I know I promised summertime drama, however... I’ve been busy. The good ‘ol CRX is on its last legs. It is no longer reliable, beginning with leaving me stranded in an Office Depot parking lot on the hottest day ever. The two of us baked in the sun for hours until Pepé finally decided to wake from the dead and acknowledge the key in the ignition. After threats of junkyards, cranes, and compaction, he wasn’t quite the stubborn mule; only teasing me ever so slightly with a delayed reaction to my turning the key in the ignition. Then I left him for a few weeks in August, for my trip to the Midwest. Now Pepé is really upset. I have yet to be stranded again, but the grunts and groans, spits and stutters of disapproval is more apparent than ever.
I am saddened by the idea of neglecting Pepé on a regular basis; only letting him out for fresh air when a reckless teen needs to practice driving. Afterall, the moment I climbed into that CRX, I knew, “this is the car for me.” Pepé is my baby - my perfect college chick car - but it’s time to let him go. Sorry Pepé, but I’m headed out to find a few more horses. |
