About Me: I've always enjoyed writing, so long as it's something I know about - like me. I'm a student. A mother. A sister. A homeowner. A perfectionist. I try to keep them as separate as possible, but sometimes they intertwine - which is NEVER a good thing. I love shoes. I love dancing, although I don't really know how. I love loud music, bonfires and the occasional glass of beer. I love my family. I love my life. And ever so slowly, I'm learning to love myself.

| The All or Nothing Girl |

I recently discovered I’m an all or nothing kind of girl. I don’t have a gray zone. When I get an idea, I’ll dive in, swim as fast as I can, and won’t come up for air until it’s nearly finished. I’ve come close to drowning quite a few times: when I remodeled my mother-in-law’s house; when I remodeled my bedroom; when I redesigned my bathroom; when I built the patio cover. Each time - I almost pulled S. under with me. Each time, I’ve walked away before completion. Then it’s weeks, months, and sometimes years, before I dive in again.
For some reason when I get into design mode, construction mode, or even shopping mode, I can’t seem to get out. I work away at something day and night , for weeks at a time, until it’s finished - I mean nearly finished. Mom’s house - absolutely gorgeous - except for the unpainted bathroom door. Patio cover - perfect! - except for the unfinished beams. Bedroom - fabulous - except for the non-existent moulding. Bathroom - will be awesome - when I actually get started.
So here I sit - avoiding Mom. Ignoring the patio. Neglecting the bedroom. Condemning the bathroom. I don’t want to do anything. No painting, no constructing, no designing. Nothing. At. All. |
