Name: Crazy Bitch
Home: Portland, Oregon, United States
About Me: I've always enjoyed writing, so long as it's something I know about - like me. I'm a student. A mother. A sister. A homeowner. A perfectionist. I try to keep them as separate as possible, but sometimes they intertwine - which is NEVER a good thing. I love shoes. I love dancing, although I don't really know how. I love loud music, bonfires and the occasional glass of beer. I love my family. I love my life. And ever so slowly, I'm learning to love myself.

| Seriously... |

Last week, I attended my first Project Management class. Since I look so young, it's usually the young girls that sit nearby. This time, it's a night class, so the majority of students are adults. I mean - seasoned adults. However, once again, I find myself surrounded by young girls.
Our instructor asked us to get together with those around us and start asking questions to determine similar and dissimilar qualities. So, four of us scooted together and started asking. Girl1 broke the ice with - so, are you all from around here? She's a full-time student. Girl2 said, yes, but works for blah blah doing blah blah. My first thought? Girl2 seems to be pretty professional. Girl3 works for an attorney and (thank god) is in her 30's. I ask where we should go with 'qualities'. Girl1 asks if anyone has any pets. (Good God.) So everyone takes a turn saying whether or not they have pets, what kind, etc. Girl2 says to me, "You have little dogs, and I have little dogs, so we can say we both have little dogs." Oh my god - Girl2 is so losing my faith. Then the children question comes up. And the "way too young for kids" comments that I'm so tired of hearing. And Girl1 is 18 and Girl2 is 19 - and we big girls are rolling our eyes as they chatter about who used to go to this school and when they flunked out and saying stuff like "wow, like, that's sooo cool" and "omg, no way, like, really?".
I took the opportunity to ask Girl3 grown-up questions, only to be immediately interrupted by Girl1.
"How tall are you?"
I squinted at her and shook my head, "What?"
"Like, how tall are you? If you're as short as me, we can say that we're the same height!"
I raised my eyebrows and said, "Umm, why don't you just say that we're both after a Project Management position."
She looked deeply hurt. "Uhhhhokay."
Next time, I'm moving to the other side of the room. |
